Soloability of Guild Wars
I noticed a tad bit of information mentioned about soloing in the section on which chapter to buy, but I'm needing more information on it. I currently play FFXI, which anyone who has played it knows that once you hit lvl 10, soloing is completely out of the question for some jobs and at best a slow painful grind that can take hours just to get one lvl. I have a new job and will have to work during prime time hours so I am looking for something I can do by myself in the mornings. GW is a nice possibility because of the no fee. I'm not giving up FFXI, but saving it for my days off. If I wanted to get rid of FFXI, I could go to WoW, but I've gotten too much into FFXI to kill of my char.

You can always just grab henchman or hero AI partners so you can play without other real people and many time the AI is better than real people and a lot less of a pain in the you know what.
As for actually soloing with no party, it takes specially designed builds different for each area, and not every area can be soloed. |

If you want to play by yourself, GW: Nightfall will give you access to heroes. They're like NPC henchmen except you can customise their skills and weapons, and direct them yourself. All of Nightfall can be completed with just heroes and NPC henchmen in your party.

i would buy nightfall first for heroes, the heroes make the game much easier and you wont have to sit around for an hour in towns trying to get into/fill out a full party of players. you can use heroes to beat almost every mission in guildwars. with the exception of elite missions.
i also like factions because of the profession changer in senji corner. you can unlock every profession for your character to use as a secondary. and can change professions and builds in town at will. (heroes make factions alot easier) Heroes make prophecies alot easier. now the run from yaks to droks isnt as frustrating. |

My main concern via soloing is the actual lvling itself. I'm not worried about the missions. :P The heroes sound like they would assist in lvling alone quite well. Even if I can only solo to half of the max lvl, it would be tons better than FFXI for times when I don't have a whole lot of time to play. Thanks for the info. I'll think about it some more and decide if I want to join the fun.

Leveling isnt big in GW, you get to 20 and from then on its developing your character by getting more skills. In Nightfall (the one with heroes) you level up very quickly and can get to play the REAL game (after Level 20) quickly.
You can solo to level 20 easily. |

I still think Nightfall would be better though, because of heroes of course. |

Steps to surviving by yourself in GW PvE:
1) Create a Warrior 2) Make the character take up Monk as the second profession 3) Buy/recieve Mending 4) Maintain Mending on yourself and enjoy __________________________________________________ _________ Really, who didn't see this coming? |

It's not like FFXI where you have to grind to get to end game. This game is pretty much end game. That's also it's downside though, but now there's title grinding for hall of monuments which gave it an actual end game.

You can't solo throught the game. But you can get computer allies like heroes and henchmen and complete most of the missions and quests with them.
There may be a few missions that require a team of at least 2 human players tho, like the bonus of dunes of despair where you have to split up. (Although there is a glitch to get even this one with a full hero/hench team) |

There are a bunch of missions that you 99.9% need help from another person, even though Heroes are there to stop 'LFG'. Their AI`s similar to enemy mobs, they bunch up a lot so AoE kills them most of the time, so that`s why I like smart players more. |

Ok OP, if you really want to play by yourself most of the time. You can always do it in GW, not alone tho, to success you'll need some companions. Here are my take on npc henches.
Chapter 1. The npc henches are rather so so, they can get the job done but their skills set up are not that good. You can order them to stay/go, by flag system. Their equipment cannot be upgrade by you and they're not permanent party menbers. Chapter 2. The henches have a better AI, not much but still. Better skills set up when compare to their CH1 counterpart. Again you can order issue some basic orders. Their equipment cannot be upgrade by you and they're not permanent party menbers. Chapter 3. Now for me the henches in this one are best of the lots. The order system still work the same. And in this chapter you'll receive an advance (yeah, i know lol advance :P) A.I. party members, better know as Heroes. You'll have full control over their equipments, runes, skills setting etc. They can be set to fight/defence/passive. Basically they're like party members from normal offline rpg, such as FF series. They'll never leave you once you got them. So yeah, that's what i think about heroes and henches anyway. Just try to keep it simple for someone who never play GW. This info is very helpful. My prime time on FFXI right now is during JP prime time, and so it's hard for english speakers to get anything done. No offense to anyone from Japan, but I've often found that JPs on FFXI don't usually want to mess with anyone who doesn't speak Japanese. I understand where they are coming from, though I have found inventive ways to let them know what I need to tell them. Still, the knowledge that I would likely not get anywhere if I did lfp keeps me in my mog house 90% of the time. The last 10% represents the time I actually farm/craft during my spare time.

Yeah most of them are like JP onry!!! Have you seen that in anyone's comment thing? I think English players have put that in their search comment to mock them for that. I like to use the tab translate function to talk with them, it worked with the few that actually wanted to party.

I usually don't make the parties myself, mostly because every party I lead crashed and burned very quickly. So my options are to sit there and watch my moogle spin, farm/craft, or not log on at all. :P
